PfAH has founded a women's group in Kariba that helps young women on their way to self-determination. The eleven women currently involved in the project are doing well and are very satisfied with our project. Under the guidance of a professional baker, they have started baking muffins to sell. Chicken fattening has now also started. The first flock of chickens will be ready for sale in three weeks. Then we will get another 50. We don't want to work with too large a flock to minimize the risk of unwanted losses. We have found that we lose a lot of chicks when the weather is too cold or too hot. Once a week, a tailor comes by to give the women instructions on tailoring work such as handbags and reusable cloth tampons. Three sewing machines are used for this purpose. We would be happy to have another 2 to 3 machines if we have the necessary funds. Every day a teacher gives lessons in English, mathematics, hygiene and other areas that are important for daily life. A short course in hair styling and nail cosmetics is planned. In the longer term, we are looking for places for lonely, helpless, elderly women. Our Women's Empowerment Group could then learn how to look after such people professionally. Unfortunately, we do not yet have the funds for this and are dependent on your donations.
